The story, in three chapters:

  1. The Neighborhood (night) — gather bread and water for the little ones, and a sapling for Sido, under the stars during a blackout
  2. What Remains (dawn) — find Sido's medicine in the rubble of the old pharmacy, plant two olive trees where the old ones stood
  3. The Kites of Gaza (day, by the sea) — find the kite and glide to the shore, referencing the real 2011 world record when Gaza's children flew thousands of kites on the beach

Features:

  • Full pixel art drawn in code — Palestinian flag checkpoints, keffiyeh-wearing characters, ruined buildings that slowly give way to the sea
  • Chiptune soundtrack in maqam Hijaz with an ayyub-style rhythm, calm variations for story scenes (M to mute)
  • Olive planting mechanic — saplings you plant grow on screen and count toward your goal
  • Kite glide ability in chapter 3 (hold JUMP mid-air)
  • NPCs with dialogue: Sido, Layla, Abu Samir the baker — small stories of rebuilding and hope
  • Hazards are environmental (falling rubble, rebar, searchlights) — and when Karim falls, he always gets back up. That's the point of the title.
  • Ending scene with dozens of flag-colored kites rising over the sea: "نحن باقون — We remain."
  • Keyboard + full mobile touch controls, checkpoints, one file, zero dependencies

Controls: ← → / A D move, SPACE jump, E talk and plant olives.
